today..

Today, Aj, the half breed Persian, died.

Found her lying motionlessly in our bedroom after sahur this morning. A bad start for the day, I would say. Her body was still warm when I got to her, but it was obvious that she had died. Maybe she died of heart broken, or complication in her system, nobody would know.

She was pregnant and due to deliver sometime soon but as things were fated, all her baby kittens were prematurely born yesterday morning. All five babies died. So awfully sad.  She struggled from dawn till 10am delivering the litter of kittens but none survived. Devastating.  

I still remember her sleeping by our feet on our bed at night. She would use the toilet to wee-wee. And that moment when she first gave birth to triplet, where only two survived. We were away in PJ that day and by the time we got home, she was frantically meowing as if to tell us she got herself babies. By the time we got to her kittens, one had died. I named the other two Toulouse & Honest.

Last night, she looked pale. She didn’t want to consume anything. I had to use a syringe to make her drink. My wife wiped her fur which was covered with blood and secretion. We said goodnite when it was quarter past 11.We decided that we would take her to the vet after school today but alas, it was not to be. He knows best.

Aj, you will be fondly remembered, especially by the children.
