Cristiano
Ronaldo coming home?
Personally,
I have mixed feelings about this.
For one,
Cristiano is well-beyond his peak years. Yes, undeniably, he is still a
goal-scoring machine, proven by statistics of his time at Juve, and before
that, at Madrid. But with the current players to don Man U jersey, especially
with the overwhelming number of strikers, where does Cristiano stand out? How can
Ole fit him into the team? Cavani has proved that he is more than capable to be
the main man, and Greenwood is also a very reliable deputy. Martial is also
available, though he is only the third rank in my list. So the choice for
strikers is not a worrying situation.
Secondly,
Cristiano will be paid a ridiculous amount of RM2,769,600.00 per week. Equivalent
to 480,000 pound sterling. This amount of money can easily cover two or three
other top players’ wages, ie: a defensive midfielder at the very least. But my
guess is Man U @ the listed company is looking at this acquisition as a
brilliant investment. Definitely fans will flock back to the stadium, visit the
merchandise store, watch the live coverage etc = making money : )
Do u
know that a season ticket costs over 530 pound sterling @ RM 3000++. Sendiri mau
ingat lahh!
On another
note, I feel that this is more because of a sentimental reason. Cristiano did
United proud when he played for them last time. So, that feeling still lingers
around and the management and the fans can’t help but to feel a bit nostalgic
about past events, thus the reason of having him for a second time. They hope
that Cristiano will help them achieve past glory again. And also Man U can’t
bear to see him wearing the blue color of Manchester. No way Jose! But from a
business perspective, It is Cristiano’s right to choose which ever team that
can afford him. But if he were to choose based purely on his love for football
(I mean, he has enough money to live forever) he wouldn’t just choose any team.
He would choose a team that adores him, which is definitely Manchester United
lah!
I hope
he will do well in his second stint at Old Trafford. And for that, all D best
Cristiano!!
Fightinggggggg!
