salam.
othman abdul, my brother in-law, passed away unexpectedly this afternoon. he was 60.
man cina, as he was famously known in kuala kubu bharu, died because of some complications. my sister, my niece and my nephew were there beside him during his last moments. his other three children were in Penang n KL then. guess they are there in kkb now..
the last time i met him was during the kenduri held at my parents place in pj last december. he looked fine, albeit a little chubby, and we chatted for a while about petty stuffs.
then, earlier this month, two weeks ago if i'm not mistaken, he was hospitalised. his right foot was swollen but he refused to go. after much persuasion from his wife, and also nagging from fairuza, his daughter, he gave in. when he got to the hospital, the doctor found that his sugar level was extra high, thus the reason for him to be admitted. after a few days, the swell subsided, he got home, and i guess life was back to usual. maybe he would be feeling uneasy knowing that he had diabetes, but life had to go on.. he was handling a grass-cutting contract around ulu selangor. he had few workers who ran the show for him. now that he's gone, who's going to handle this job? my sister is a pensioner. she was a teacher before, now she runs tuition classes at home, but that won't be enough to support her 4 school-going children. luckily the 1st n 2nd daughters are working. hmm..
tomorrow morning they will perform the final rituals: cleanse his body, wrap him in white piece of cloth, pray for him, n bury him. my eldest brother called just now to say that the body will be brought to the mosque for all the above rituals to be performed sometime at 8.. guess i have to leave real early tomorrow..
it seemed that this morning he had difficulty in breathing. at noon, he fainted. my sis called the ambulance, then slightly after asar, he was gone.. so sudden, so unexpected, so fast.
in a way, i feel sorry for my sister n her children to lose abang man suddenly like that. definitely there'll be many problems which need to be adressed after this..
but at the same time, i feel thankful because he did not have to suffer for long. one minute he was sick, the next minute he's gone. Allah knows best.
time for me to pen-off now. i have to pack a few things for tomorrow trip to kkb to bid my farewell to othman abdul @ man cina. may Allah bless his soul and place him among the chosen ones. Amen.
insyaAllah.
