bohemian rhapsody - ii
anywhere the wind blows
doesn't really matter
to me....
salam.
u may be wondering why i like this song so much, well, it is because of a few reasons, namely, the lyric, the arrangement, the variety of melodies, and the influence with regard to the song, and most of of all, all of the above, came from a single mind of a genius, freddie mercury.
the first time i heard this song was in 1980, introduced to me by my brother, nazam. the first time i heard him play this song and straight away i fell in love with it, and with Queen. if you had followed the rise of Queen, the songs they played, then you would surely know what i mean.
one great thing about this song is, it is evergreen, and it is the greatest song in Queen's history, though most people may be familiar with the tune of we will rock you, we are the champions, another one bites the dust and others. but to me this song stands out compared to the rest.
btw, freddie mercury was not even an english. he was an indian parsi, hailed from zanzibar, born with the name farrokh bulsara, grew up in india.
not only he was able to compose songs with outstanding flair, he could play the piano and guitar as well.
guess it is not too much if i were to say that he was a charismatic musician. and his songs surely did influence bits of my life.
my friends used to say i look like him , way back in 1986 then, ehem, ehem.. wish i had his voice and ability as well too, : ) nevertheless, i am content with what God has given me, ok!
finally, he died in 1991. gone but never forgotten.
that should be enough of freddie mercury in one day.
ta!
