A stroll on the
beach. I’ve read that phrase many times. But only recently did I get to do that
and enjoy myself, albeit the happiness was an abstract one.
It was last Sunday
morning. My wife was to attend a course held for her students at virgo beach
resort, which was a short distance from the teluk batik beach. After sending
her there, I, together with nia, arief and lisa, went to the beach. Once there,
we rented 4 chairs to leave our stuffs (bags filled with water bottle and
revision books. Yes, you read it right, revision books, coz the children are in
the midst of their exam) and walked the beach length. Along the way we watched
the fiddler crabs dashing into their homes @ holes, the waves thrashing the
beach, the sun which was warming up its ray, the little children playing
happily, and crowd of families making their way to the beach.
After walking the
distance, we finally settled down at our respective chairs and within a few
minutes, everyone was engrossed in their reading. (though the kids managed
slightly half an hour or so) I brought along a novel, blue eyed boy, to kill the time. It was a pleasure to be sitting
under the coconut trees with the swaying leaves, the cool breeze on my cheeks, the
aroma of fresh air intertwined with tang of saltiness, the serenity of the
early morning, reading a novel, with the sea as the view, and the time to
savour.
Soon after, the children,
especially nia, were tempted to go into the water but sadly, they left their
swimsuits at home. They had to be content playing with the sand instead. Bought
them ice-creams as consolation which they enjoyed every bit. : )
At half past
eleven, it was time to make a move. I really enjoyed myself that morning, and
hopefully there’ll be other opportunities just like this one in store for me next time. insyaAllah.
