abdul hamid, fondly known as abang bah, (as johorean, it's normal to call our
girl's cousins abang.. ) my beloved cousin, passed away this afternoon. she was
64.
it seemed that after coming out of the
toilet sometime in the wee hour last nite, she complained of chest pain. she was staying
at another cousin's place at jalan puding off jalan tanah merah batu pahat johore.
my niece, adib, called my other cousin, nong, who came to the aid. by half past
three she was admitted to the BP hospital. this morning she was stable,
chatting away, as if back to her normal self..we knew about her health
complications, but she was strong and resilient, but Allah knows best, and to
me, He took her away from this worldly affair as subtle as possible. being a
petang jumaat, hopefully Allah places her somewhere blissful. insyaAllah.
when i got to know about her death just
now, i was speechless, with mixed emotions, and memories started to flood my
mind. and i cried, just like right now, when i remembered all the moments..
i remember her as a beautiful lady, an
elegant one too.. she was soft-spoken, a person who loved everyone very much,
and i knew she loved and cared a great deal for my dad, since her parents died when she
was a child, and my bak took care of her and her siblings back then..she never
married, though she was in love once, but things happened, and that love was
only an episode in her life story.
i wish i could be there at atok's house
at jalan tanah merah, with the rest of my cousins and nephews and nieces to pay
my last respect to her, but being johorean, they would want to settle
everything by tonight, and i don't think i would be able to reach there on
time.
bang bah, i'm grateful to Allah for letting
you be my cousin, and i still remember vividly the time we spent together kat
dapur rumah atok that morning, when i was there to get my Land Rover two years
back, where we chatted about everything and a lot was about preparing for life
hereafter, and how i felt so blessed to have a cousin like you, a one in a
million kind of person, and i knew that you knew too how we cared for each
other but never said it out loud. action speaks louder than words, kan..
hopefully we'll meet again.
hopefully the pains have changed to
gains.
